Maria has been working for Victoria Police for nearly 24 years.
And over those years, she’s held 18 positions across various HR areas, including projects, consulting and workplace relations. Currently, she’s a portfolio manager within the Human Resources Command. It’s safe to say, she’s seen it all.
So, when asked what this year’s International Women’s Day theme, ‘Inspiring inclusion,’ means to her, she said it’s about “Embracing all women from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, ability and faith.”
Having worked at Victoria Police for more than half her life, Maria has seen the organisation transform and grow.
Women once represented only 10% of the workforce of 11,000. Since, things have changed for the better, with improved promotional pathways, strategies and conditions such as workplace flexibility.
