It is a really important role, and I am proud to be in it.”
Leading Senior Constable Leah Symonds is part of the Major Crime Scene Unit. Over the 16 years that she’s worked for Victoria Police, she’s seen a shift in culture towards women in the force, for the better.
It was in 2013 that Leah finally began her forensic journey in regional Crime Scene Services. And in 2020, she moved to the Major Crime Scene Unit – a workplace she says everyone is accepted.
Her achievements haven’t stopped there though. Leah has gone on to complete an Advanced Diploma in Forensic Investigation and is currently conducting a research project to achieve a Graduate Certificate in Crime Scene Investigation – talk about achieving!
