"The outcome will be a recycling of people into the system, back to the streets without preparation to be successful, and continued crime and victimization of our community."⁠ ⁠ With the passage of SB3 last Wednesday, – and its signature by the Governor this week – #Louisiana becomes the first state to roll back #raisetheage legislation in the country, joining Georgia, Texas, and Wisconsin as the only four states that try 17-year-olds as adults in criminal proceedings. This #lowertheage legislation, like all of the policies passed during the special session will neither make us safer nor deter crime.
