Educators: Explore stories featured in our newest exhibition, "The Unfinished Revolution: Maryland in the Wars for Independence" on Saturday, February 26, 11 am-12 pm, with the MCHC Education Staff. Alongside the stories of the war heroes, we will examine the experiences of everyday men turned into soldiers, Black and white, as well as those who did not fight, including enslaved people who fled with the British Army and women “camp followers” who accompanied their husbands to war. Stories will be included about individuals such as George Roberts (pictured), an “old Defender” of Baltimore during the War of 1812, who was actually captured in the Caribbean by the British early in the conflict. Teachers will learn about instructional resources and primary source materials to support the study of these topics in the classroom.
