On this #FashionFriday, we celebrate the contributions of our former Trustee and Board Chair Barbara P. Katz. Barbara passed away on February 1. She was a force at our institution and held many roles over five decades, including serving as the first woman to occupy the role of Board Chair. Barbara funded MCHC's Fashion Archives interns and underwrote two publications for us, "A Woman of Two Worlds, Elizabeth Patterson Bonaparte," and the "Spectrum of Fashion" catalogue. In December 2021, we elected to honor Barbara by naming the Fashion Archives the Barbara P. Katz Fashion Archives at the Maryland Center for History and Culture. Here we share a fashion piece in our archive that Barbara wore and donated to MCHC. Barbara was an invaluable friend and we will truly miss her.
