Keefer was a prominent figure in the musical world of Baltimore in the 1900s, teaching Russian and music classes at Johns Hopkins University and piano at the Peabody Conservatory for more than 50 years. She attended the first performance of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in 1916 and went on to support the BSO the rest of her life.
