#StudentSpotlight: Rebekah Thurn is a second-year Ph.D. student in the WVU Department of Neuroscience. Bekah is pursuing clinical neuroscience, specifically with an interest in mental health and substance use disorder. Before coming to WVU, Bekah worked as a transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapist in Oregon, primarily working with patients with treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, and OCD. She is currently working on a study of patients in the focused ultrasound (FUS) protocol's control arm under Dr. James Mahoney. "For my project, I do primarily cognitive assessment and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), which is done in the same MRI scanner you would use if you had a clinical problem.
