Oregon will enter a new era for drug crimes starting this fall. The state’s controversial experiment with drug decriminalization turned out to be relatively brief, ending not with another ballot measure but a bipartisan vote in the Legislature during the short session that ended Thursday. Gov. Tina Kotek said she will sign House Bill 4002. The bill covers a lot of ground. For instance, it makes it easier to prosecute drug dealing and to get medications like buprenorphine to treat opioid addiction.
