Congratulations to the St. Mark’s First Robotics team on reaching the semifinals in the New England District event at Bridgewater State University over the weekend. After qualification rounds, the St. Mark’s team, “Gone Fishin’,” was ranked ninth out of 36 teams. They went on to be the seventh-seed alliance captain, eventually picking teams “Stormgears” from Westford, Mass. (15th), and “Big Bad Bob” from Alton, N.H. (21st), to join their playoff alliance. The teams managed major upsets in their first two rounds of playoff matches, beating out second- and third-seed alliances. They then advanced to the semifinals for the first time in several years, where they played an exciting and close match to end the weekend as the third-ranked alliance in the competition.
