If the Solar Eclipse Task Force sounds like an unlikely team of superheroes, it’s because it sort of is.⁠ ⁠ Eclipses have long captured our collective attention. Yet their popularity has grown exponentially over the past decade, so much so that people have come together to form “task forces” to educate the public about how to best experience them.⁠ ⁠ The Solar Eclipse Task Force was created in 2014 and is a mixed collective of educators, scientists, psychologists, astrophotographers, tourism directors, and people like Cody Cly, who is working on a Ph.D in physics and astronomy while educating the public about the cultural nuances of eclipses among Native American tribes.⁠ ⁠ Even regular civilians have turned into dedicated guardians of the celestial event.
