A Tale of Two Halves. It was the middle of the work day in DC, but that didn’t stop hundreds of fans from flooding out of their offices and into DuPont Circle to cheer on the USMNT. It’d been a long eight years since this famous intersection had held a viewing party for the US, and just like everywhere else around the country, the fans were eager to kick off on the right foot. USA-USA chants, Viking claps, and a roaring goal celebration echoed through monuments and government buildings in the first half. We were finally back, and the confidence shown by the squad in the opening ‘45 reflected into smiles, hugs, and cheers here at home. Wales would ultimately make the proper halftime adjustments to claw back for a draw, and the sour taste of splitting the points is still sitting in all of our mouths.
