Arizona’s state mammal is ridiculously cute! These little guys love hanging out at the top of Piestewa Peak. This one of the many reasons I love hiking this trail at night. The Phoenix Mountains Preserve is open until 11pm nightly but you do have to enter no later than 7pm. Ringtails are part of the raccoon family and they’re about the size of a house cat. But don’t call them a ringtail cat because they’re not actuallyyyyy a cat! They have the longest, bushiest tails and big eyes making them extra adorable. They only weigh about 1-2 lbs! They were named the state mammal in 1986. If you are lucky enough to spot a ringtail, do not touch or feed them, k? #arizona #arizonathings #arizonahikes #phoenix
