Senior midfielder Amber Achladis has been awarded the inaugural Dr. Neal J. Johnson St. Bonaventure Women’s Soccer Scholarship.
“It is an honor to award Amber this scholarship as she represents the spirit of this gift perfectly,” said Joe Manhertz, the university’s director of athletics.
The senior scholarship will be given to a women’s soccer team member who “has demonstrated over their years of participation, dedication to their teammates, the team, the program and the university.” The recipient also exhibits the Franciscan values of the university.
“Throughout her time at the university, Achladis has assisted with many events in the community such as the Special Olympics Polar Spray, the National Girls and Women's in Sports Day Program, the Unified Special Olympics Basketball Competition, and the Unified Special Olympics Soccer Clinic,” said an athletic department press release.
