Professional soccer is coming to Brooklyn, New York. Brooklyn Football Club announced their men’s team will debut in the USL Championship in 2025, while their women’s team will debut in the USL Super League this year. They will play at 7,000 seater Maimonides Park in Coney Island. Backed by North Sixth Group, they want to bring local soccer to an extremely diverse borough of over 2.7 million people. That is more people than every single city in the U.S. except LA. Soccer is a very popular there, although most prefer international soccer instead of MLS. Teams like NYCFC and New York Red Bulls haven’t really attracted Brooklynites either. Apart from one of them playing up in the Bronx and another all the way at New Jersey, they’re both basically farm teams for CFG and Red Bull Network.
