I often have to describe what I do for work and I commonly tell people, “I teach girls how to play catch and how to move better.” . Watching this video over and over, I see something else. . Through a lot of our time together, my girls follow directions even if they don’t know the why. They wait for my “go” and trust my plan for each day of learning. . In each session they develop ways to guide themselves. New drills to do at home & information that equips them to practice without me watching over them. . They try new things. They fail. They listen for advice for adjustment. And things begin to shift. Instead of just following directions, these girls start to lead themselves. . At a time when they have to go full speed through life even if they don’t yet know what’s waiting when they get there, they use me to help them navigate, but at all times, they are learning how to maximize their experiences with failure on their own.
