Since getting married, Ben and I have been working the Financial Peace baby steps and we finally got to baby step 3b (Save for a down payment) this past fall. . . Once we hit our original savings goal we started the process of house hunting. Before looking at this home Ben said he did not want to make an offer the same day. He wanted time to think about it without feeling rushed. Well, we loved it so much we put an offer in that was accepted that day. . . We are calling this our Dave house; monthly payment less than 25% of our take home pay, at least 10% down on a 15 year fixed. We pushed hard and saved up even more to give us 20% for a down payment, goodbye PMI!! The greatest part about this journey is having peace with the process. . .
