Just in time for Independence Day, we're debt free!! Joel made the final car payment after work yesterday. Now we're off and running to funding our emergency fund.
The past 11 months has just been a long lesson in learning from stupid. My mom sent me the Financial Peace book a few years ago and it inspired me to do it-ish. I paid extra on my student loan, but I wasn't gazelle intense because it wasn't that much, and I wanted to buy a house. Joel had never so far fallen into the debt trap. Fast forward to May 2018, I've had my house a year, made a little progress on my student loan, Joel and I cash flowed our wedding and honeymoon, and Murphy met us coming home. One moose, an ambulance ride, 10 hours in the ER, two brain injuries, a totaled car, and two scared newly weds taking out a loan on a newer used car because fear brings out the stupid, the $2300 total debt turned into over $17000.
