An English class assignment her high school freshman year moved Noor Aldayeh (nooraldayeh) to start speaking openly about her struggle with an eating disorder. “The whole point was just to work on public speaking,” says Noor, now a senior. “I was just going to do, like, a random subject that I was interested in, but I don’t know why, I had this weird inkling — a feeling I had to talk about my eating disorder.” When she was 11 years old, Noor started to feel insecure in her body. Eventually, she began to binge and purge. Three years later, Noor, an avid dancer, finally opened up to her doctor about her struggles with bulimia, then connected with the right therapist and nutritionist to help move her into a place of recovery.
