Another influential woman in PR was Doris Elsa Fleischman Bernays (1891 - 1980).
Although she was married to the “Father of PR” Edward Bernays, and worked as a writer for his firm, Doris Fleischman is more well-known for her feminist activism.
As a member of the Lucy Stone League, she advocated for women to keep their maiden names after marriage. In 1925, she became the first married American woman to have her passport issued under her maiden name.
