Congratulations to UCRC on their first Spring regatta at the RedHawk Sprints. The Bearcats traveled to Miami University where they enjoyed cold, snowy, windy, and otherwise choppy conditions on Acton Lake at Hueston Woods Park. (Remember Bearcat alumni, the true joy of early spring regattas??) Varsity rower Caitlyn Cusick summed up the Bearcat’s first outing by saying, “I think it was a strong starting point for our season and I’m looking forward to MACRA and ACRA.” In the Varsity races, our men’s Varsity 8 placed first, defeating host Miami. The men’s Varsity 4 placed second behind Miami’s A boat, but ahead of St. Louis University and Miami B. The Bearcat women placed second in the Varsity 4, falling 3 seconds behind Miami but well ahead of IUPUI and St. Louis University. On the novice front, the Cincinnati men’s novice 4 lost to winner St. Louis by one length of open water, but topped the Miami entry by 30 seconds.
