As summer approaches, it's important to remember that the monsoon season is just around the corner. While it officially starts June 15, it's never too early to prepare for the potential flooding that can occur in our area each year. Areas prone to flooding, including washes and low-lying neighborhoods, should take extra caution and prepare accordingly. Authorities recommend that property owners take the time now to reflect on the potential impacts of flooding and make necessary preparations. This can include clearing debris from drainage areas on their properties to prevent clogs downstream, securing loose objects to prevent them from blowing away during powerful thunderstorms and trimming potentially damaging trees or tree limbs. Additionally, clearing small washes that run through your property can help to prevent flooding and water damage.
