“He made my feet like the feet of a deer and set me secure on the heights.” - Psalm 18:33 This deer has no worry about where its feet are, it is secure on this mountain and trusts its skills and instinct to not stumble or falter. Would we be like the deer, graceful and abounding on the heights because we have the ultimate foundation, the strongest rock that is a sure support. God has given us strength and equipped us for his work. By his son Christ Jesus, we are blameless and our way is guided by the Holy Spirit just as the deer is guided by instinct. Plenty of times we lose sight of our path and stumble. When we are on the heights, we can get distracted by the danger of falling, lose our footing on the loose rock, fall weary, and come up short. We are called to the heights, to rise above our flaws, to seek after the highest king.
