“Thus says the LORD: ‘Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls,’” -Jeremiah 6:16 What path will you pursue? The temptingly new fancy road or the old path which is oft overlooked or seen as undesirable? The way of the LORD is described throughout the Bible as the ancient, narrow, straight, level path. It is one that has been known for a long time, well constructed, and yet not always followed or easy. Yes, God’s path is straight and level, but it is through the narrow gate we must pass. It is the ancient path that is also undesirable. Yet we are easily tempted by other paths. We are called to shake off these temptations, to seek the true path. The call the Lord makes to us is to wait and be patient; to seek out the ancient paths before walking.
