We can draw near to him because Jesus is our high priest; he intercedes for us and, because of what he has done and is doing, allows us to be near to God. This is taught throughout the Bible: God wants to be near his people. Adam and Eve walked in the garden with God, he invited Israel to draw near to him when he descended onto Mount Sinai, Jesus humbled himself to become man and dwell with man, the Holy Spirit dwells within us, and in Revelation, we are granted to sit down with Jesus on his throne.
