Jesus died to sin, and descended into Hell. Jesus had foretold his death to his disciples numerous times, saying just as the prophets of the Old Testament have written, the Son of Man must suffer and die, but also rise again on the third day. This is the hope that we hold onto, the faith in what God says will happen; that Jesus is who he says he is and will do as was written throughout Scripture.
