Time is a funny thing and so is subtlety.
- The first picture, '14. My first time ever in the west coast. First time surrounded by the high mountains in Colorado. I see my nervousness, my bent leg, and utter unsureness.
-'16. Way more focused. Maybe too much so. Reaching and pointing and, honestly, frowning.
-'19. Sure. Not trying so hard. I don't have to. Ease, but without challenge.
-Now. '21. Somewhere in the National Forest of Southeast Alaska. How the heck did I get here. My muscles ache every day. I reach and climb and float and live in the dirt. And, now, I smile on top of mountains, leaning into this pose. Leaning into this space that is so familiar but not at all.
This may not be your "normal" Instagram yoga progression post. But, gosh, that IS yoga. Every year I do not focus on how to cramp my body into smaller contortions. Instead, I focus on how to move and breathe and flow into this beautiful life 👐
