Photo by danwintersphoto | In a fiery triumph, NASA and Northrop Grumman successfully conducted a full-scale static fire test of the agency’s Space Launch System (SLS) five-segment solid rocket booster. As the world’s largest solid propellant booster, it will provide more than 75 percent of the SLS rocket’s initial thrust during the Artemis mission launch. This test in Promontory, Utah, was photographed as part of my ongoing series for National Geographic’s continuing coverage of NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to put a man and woman on the moon by 2026.
