Photos by Muhammed Muheisen mmuheisen | In March I spent three weeks at the border of Romania and Ukraine to document some of the stories of the people who fled the war in Ukraine.

Behind the word "refugees" are people—forced to leave their homes and hopes, their families and memories, in search of a new, safe home. Behind the word "refugees" are mothers and fathers, grandparents and grandchildren. Nobody leaves their home unless they're forced to—that's what I try to show in my images.
