Photo by davidemonteleonestudio | Back in 2016, I was in Lesvos Island, Greece, to document a wave of Syrian civilians fleeing the ongoing civil war and their homes for shelter in Europe. The island, with a local population of 85.000, hosted more than half a million migrants over the course of 2015—a flood that resulted in overcrowded camps haunted by medical issues and poor living conditions.
