Photo by davidemonteleonestudio | In 2016, I was in Skopje, in the Republic of North Macedonia, to document the radical renovation program known as Skopje 2014, which resulted in dozens of new buildings and more than 100 statues. The goal was to return a classical aesthetic to the capital, which lost more than 80 percent of its buildings in a 1963 earthquake. But the initiative's cost and architectural style have been controversial. Follow davidemonteleonestudio for more about this and other stories. #skopje
