Photographer Matthieu Paley paleyphoto says his favorite work projects are "walking assignments." He was on assignment recently when, for 12 days and 180 kilometers (100+miles), he followed Sufi pilgrims across the desert and mountains of the Sindh and Baluchistan Provinces in Pakistan. In extreme heat, going from one water hole to the next, they walked purposefully, some barefoot, singing their passion for God—a caravan fueled by an intense spiritual quest. At night, they slept "covered by a blanket of stars," he says. "These are a few video snippets from my walking partners—unforgettable memories that left me with a feeling of love and kindness that I try to carry with me every day."
