This rainforest is estimated to be at least 130 million years old, making it one of the oldest rainforests in the world (and twice as old as the Amazon rainforest). Rich in biodiversity, Borneo provides habitat for about 15,000 known species of flowering plants, and more than 3,000 tree species, 221 terrestrial mammal species, and 420 bird species.
