Photo by kiliiiyuyan | I don’t know about you, but fireflies take me back to childhood. Here, in the space all around me, a thousand tiny green-yellow lights are miniature lanterns, blazing long enough to be seen but always escaping my cupped hands. These synchronous fireflies (Photinus carolinus) flashed at early nighttime in the forests of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
This image is a composite of long exposures, a technique used to reduce the amount of noise in the final image. Follow me, kiliiiyuyan, for more of the natural world’s beauty.
