Video by babaktafreshi | A meteor flashes near the Pleiades star cluster (also known as the Seven Sisters) during the peak of the annual Geminid meteor shower, on the night of December 13-14. It's visible from most of the world but favored for the Northern Hemisphere. The peak time is often near midnight, with one to four meteors per minute, on average. Light pollution and strong moonlight can reduce the show. This year a bright gibbous moon will affect visibility, but it sets about 2 a.m., allowing a few hours of dark sky. I highly recommend stargazing at this time. Geminids have plenty of fireballs (bright meteors) that are easily visible in urban skies and they appear within several nights from the peak. Follow me babaktafreshi for more night sky visual stories. #meteorshower #meteor #geminids #stargazing #astrophotography
