Photos by johnstanmeyer / I stood out front, peering into a passageway that seemed to lead to an altered universe. In reality, it was the entrance to a wedding hall, glowing along the road a few hundred meters (yards) from the Taj Mahal in Agra, India.
The kindest driver basked in his rickshaw’s blue light, liquid pinkness appearing from somewhere else in the night. He was parked beside our hotel, a hundred meters from another glow, this one from the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Punjab.
I never rode with this fellow parked beside the Ganges River in Bhagalpur, in the state of Bihar. Still, his bling-bling rickshaw and interior pink light may soon inspire a room’s colors inside my own house. How genuine our imagination might seem, until we stand before an imaginarium, comatose from the color. Welcome to India.
