@joelsartore / Most species need legs and feet for walking, but not the bandtail searobin! This species has modified fin rays, allowing the fish to walk along the seabed. For a fish that spends most of its time navigating from inshore waters to the continental shelf, this is a good adaptation: the searobin can probe for food hidden underneath the mud and sand bottoms of the ocean floor.
