Half gallon bottles of special formula are given every three hours around the clock, and drinking is a noisy, slurpy affair. Afterward the elephants fall into a deep stupor. Reteti is the first ever community-owned elephant sanctuary in Africa. It provides a safe place for injured elephants to heal and later be returned back to the wild.
