Photo by mattiasklumofficial / I photographed this Galápagos mockingbird as it inspected a Galápagos land iguana for ticks. The iguana, which can weigh more than eleven kilos (25 pounds), appears to invite the entrepreneurial bird, sometimes freezing all movement until the bird has finished feeding on the ticks that often cling to the lizard’s neck. Both the bird and the lizard benefit—symbiotic cooperation. Please check out mattiasklumofficial to learn more about our projects around the world.
