Video by joelsartore / The nimble spray crab is one of at least two species commonly referred to as Sally Lightfoot. The nickname is rumored to have been inspired by a Caribbean dancer, and is reflective of the crab’s agility. Thanks to their long, flattened legs, this species is able to jump from rock to rock, scale vertical slopes, and run in four directions—forward, backward, and side to side—making them almost impossible to catch. Video taken riverbankszoo. To see more footage of this species, follow me joelsartore.
