Photo by jasperdoest / This is Randi, an arctic fox living near a research settlement called Ny-Ålesund, in Norway's Svalbard Archipelago. She was born during the summer of 2006, when I photographed Randi and her eight siblings. They were well taken care of by their mother during those first months, after which they had to take of themselves come the harsh Arctic winter. Two years later she took over her mother's den.
