Photo by beverlyjoubert / Herds that dust together, stay together… Usually the encore to a satisfying mud bath, a liberal dusting of dirt helps elephant skin stay healthy and keeps all kinds of insects and parasites at bay. This herd took a little time out while navigating an elephant corridor along the Selinda Spillway, a pristine waterway located in the northern reaches of Botswana. What strikes an observer most is how tranquil and relaxed these giants appeared as they went about their dusty business. Hunting was once permitted in this area, but in the intervening years, the herds here have grown visibly more settled, calmed by the knowledge that they are safe. #elephants #thisismytrophy #elephantsofinstagram #elephantconservation
