Video by joelsartore / As with all tarantula species, the female Chilean rose tarantula will outlive its male counterpart by many years. While females can live up to 20 years, males rarely live for more than five. When males of this species reach sexual maturity, their lifespan is nearly over—not long after mating they will either die of natural causes, or be eaten by their partner.
