Photos by CarltonWard / Swipe to compare a male and female Florida panther on the same trail at Babcock Ranch Preserve. A mature male panther will weigh up to 150 pounds. An adult female is about half that size. Note the musculature and head size of the male and that he is farther from the camera when making comparisons. To me, female panthers are the most impressive, with the power to feed on white-tailed deer and hogs twice their size, all while quietly raising kittens that are completely dependent on their mother's hunting prowess. A mother panther will spend each night hunting (and feeding, when successful) and then return to her hidden den to provide milk for her kittens.
