Photo by jasperdoest / Veterinarian Odette Doest sits with Dora, a Caribbean flamingo that arrived at fdoccuracao with a complicated wing fracture. Wild animal rehabilitation is a complicated process, and there are usually many hurdles to overcome before an animal can be released back into the wild. Because of the complex nature of her wing fracture, Dora never fully recovered, but Odette didn’t want to euthanize the otherwise healthy animal. Therefore, Dora became part of a group of animals that receives permanent care at FDOC's sanctuary. She's now part of Flamingo Bob's posse and hangs out with him in their private pool.
