Photo by stephenwilkes / From the archives: a female farmer clears and burns a field Guilin, China. Biomass burning takes place all over the world, significantly impacting the Earth’s atmosphere, air quality, human health, and climate.
Regenerative agriculture is a system that supports biodiversity, enriches soils, improves watersheds, and increases the capacity of the soil to capture carbon, with potential to reverse global warming.
We need to urgently embrace regenerative agriculture practices, such as cover cropping, composting, and increasing plant diversity, which will help restore the topsoil needed to absorb the massive CO2 levels created by biomass burning.
