Photo by Karine Aigner kaigner / Meet "Momcat" and her family. I spent several months photographing this family of wild bobcats denning under a house on a ranch in Texas. We met by accident when the kittens were about ten weeks old—which began a story that has lasted for years. Each day the family’s routine was similar. Every afternoon, when the sun began to get lower in the sky and the Texas heat began to wane, Momcat and her kittens would emerge from under the house. Momcat would groom them as they romped and played, and then they'd all head to the water bowl. When she was ready, the adult female would leave the kittens behind, heading out to hunt as her young family patiently awaited her return. This litter consisted of three kittens, two males and a female—each with its very own unique personality.
