Photo by johnstanmeyer / Cars are a luxury beyond the reach of most Indians, but Roshanlan Devi and his wife, Priyanka—among the growing middle class—can afford a motorcycle. They stopped for a portrait over the Yamuna River in Prayagraj (Allahabad). Shopping malls, hospitals, and homes are so tightly packed together in big cities that motorcycles provide convenient transportation and cut down on parking problems. The image is from my latest story in the August issue of natgeo magazine, "Water Everywhere, and Nowhere," now on newsstands worldwide. outofedenwalk
