Photo by carltonward / The Florida black bear is one of my favorite species. Learning about its landscape movements from scientists inspired a team (including me) to create the Florida Wildlife Corridor project, a campaign to protect a network of public and private lands throughout Florida as connected wildlife habitat. Bears need a lot of room to roam, and their seven sub-populations throughout Florida, from Pensacola to Naples, will become increasingly cut off from one another if we don't protect wildlife corridors.
