Trincomalee is one of the oldest cities in Asia, and has been a Hindu pilgrimage site since 400 B.C.E. Now Buddhist, Hindu, Christian, and Muslim communities live together—one of the many hopeful scenes I witnessed while working in Sri Lanka for natgeo, looking at the memory of the 26-year-long civil war that ended in 2009.
