Let's talk about cervical ripening and how acupuncture helps with that ☝️ Cervical ripening occurs when the cervix softens and becomes more distensible which coaxes the baby into the best possible position for birth. Multiple studies have shown the benefits of acupuncture in preparing the body for birth, and assisting the cervix to ripen. One of those studies was published in 1974 in the American Journal of Acupuncture, and concluded that acupuncture as a form of birth preparation helped to reduce the amount of time a woman spends in labor. In 2006, an observational study occurred and was published by the Medical Acupuncture Journal. This was a study of 169 pregnant women who received acupuncture treatment for a four month period.
